Features

Below you will find the main features of Semonto. If, after reading, you still have questions about Semonto, do not hesitate to contact us at info@semonto.com.

Warnings by E-mail or SMS

Semonto can e-mail you the exact warning or error message when a check fails. It is also possible to get SMS-alerts or even alerts via Twitter if you want.

Multiple Kinds of Reports

Semonto has three kind of reports. First, we have a section showing the current status of your host, a history center showing the details of the performed tests of a service on a specified time and a general overview of the performed tests. There is also a log book available per host. This logbook contains every alert-message ever sent, together with detailed information.

Multiple Test Servers Around the World

Semonto has multiple test servers spread around the globe. You can choose which test-server needs to check your host. It is possibly to select a different test server for every host, so you can test the connectivity to your host from several countries.

Extended History Center

Semonto keeps a log of all the performed tests. With the history center, you can view the results of those tests. You can get the value per year, month, day or even per hour. You can also view this data in a graph to easily spot patterns or long-term evolutions.

More Than 15 Default Tests Available

Semonto offers more than 15 default tests such as a ping test, packet-loss, server-load, MySQL-tests and a lot more. The default tests will cover the basic needs for testing hosts.

Create Your Own Tests

It is also possible to create your own custom tests, which at the moment have to be written in PHP. You can create tests for almost everything, for example monitoring a buffer-query, network load, server temperature. You will find implementations for some tests like the RAM-usage and more on our blog.

Custom Status URL

You can create custom status URLs, which are called aliases in Semonto. Every alias will show the status of a selected number of hosts, and you can even post status messages yourself there. Aliasses can optionally be protected by a password. Aliasses are assigned easily-rememberable names like http://alias-name.semonto.com or http://status.semonto.com/alias-name.

Software as a Service (SAAS)

Semonto is what is called a SAAS. You won't need to install any software nor does anything have to run in the background. To perform some internal tests, like monitoring a local database-server or measuring the load of the server, you will need to upload a single script-file which Semonto will call to perform those tests. This doesn't require any super-privileges, so you can do this on almost any server.

Free iPhone application

Semonto offers a free iPhone application. This simple, quick application will give you very fast overview of the status of your servers. When a servertest results in a warning or error, you will be able to see the exact problem.
